The second edition of our hugely popular #MyRadRocks competition has come to a close, the votes are in, and we’re delighted to share the winning entry with you.
My Rad Rocks is a competition hosted by the Cast Iron Radiator Centre, offering customers the chance to showcase their interior design skills and show us how they’ve put their cast iron radiators to work in their homes.
We receive hundreds of incredibly varied entries, which is truly a testament to the versatility of the cast iron radiator. Narrowing it down to just six entries for the public vote is one of our favourite tasks as a team, and we love seeing the response across social media.
@eatonhillfarm – This Georgian property renovation in Cheshire is the work of Sol and Tim. We love the warm, earthy toned panelling and limestone flooring. Botanical is clearly a prominent theme in this home, with prints and plants aplenty.
@_itstartedwithacushion – Georgina in South Bucks shared this joyful bathroom scene, showcasing her elegant and feminine style. We love the contrast of the compact black cast iron radiator alongside the bold pink tub.
@justanothervictorianhouse – This entry from Ella caught our eye for the confident pairing of the parquet flooring with a statement ornate radiator. The radiator holds its own alongside the prominent artwork, demonstrating that you can make a radiator part of the decor, not just something to work around.
@laurenoliviadesign – This moody and elegant entry is from Lauren Olivia, a freelance interior designer based in The Cotswolds. This minimalist snap really shines a light on the timeless elegance of the cast iron radiator.
@the_mono_terrace – A masterclass in the monochromatic colour scheme, this entry from Tom Dance naturally earned its place in the top 6. We love a space that looks both functional and stylish.
@thewonkyhouserochester – An iconic home with an iconic view, we adore this entry from The Wonky House. The cast iron radiator fits perfectly below this window, while the antique bronze colour plays with the light.
You may have already come across Ella and her incredibly satisfying Klingstrip reels on Instagram. For the past 3 years, Ella has been painstakingly restoring a Victorian-era property in the West Midlands, and documenting the process on her Instagram account.
The extensive five bedroom property offers all the hallmarks of a classic renovation, with plenty of original features waiting to be uncovered and lovingly restored. We highly recommend you follow along if you’re looking for some Victorian renovation inspiration!
It’s also great to see all of this work happening alongside real life – Ella’s little ones (3 children and a pup) regularly make an appearance, showing that you can get the whole family involved with a renovation.
Ella selected the Art Nouveau 2 Column 750mm Cast Iron Radiator in satin black with 16 sections. She paired this two column radiator with beautiful ornate detailing with the Stratford Antique Brass Thermostatic Radiator Valve Set. We can’t wait to see what Ella does with her £500 voucher!
