Cast iron radiators heat homes by circulating hot water. Usually heated by a boiler. The hot water runs through the hollow sections of the cast iron radiator, entering via the inlet pipe. Cast iron is the perfect material for a radiator due to its ability to absorb heat. Not only does cast iron absorb heat well, it retains it for much longer than metals such as steel or aluminium used in modern radiators. As such, even after the radiator has been turned off, it continues to emit continued warmth for hours after.

Cast iron radiators transfer heat into a room in two ways. Radiating direct heat warms people and surfaces, while convection heat warms the surrounding air. The warm air rises and circulates while cooler air is drawn down to the radiator to be heated in turn. As the water cools, it flows back to the boiler via the return pipe to be reheated, maintaining an efficient and continuous heating cycle.

As with most high quality products, cast iron radiators are heavy. The dense high quality cast iron from which they are made is much heavier than modern aluminium or steel radiators.

Every cast iron radiator supplied by the Cast Iron Radiator Centre is manufactured using traditional foundry methods, where molten iron is poured into precision moulds to create each section. Here at the Cast Iron Radiator Centre we then hand-finish, pressure test, and assemble each section into complete radiators before being painted in your chosen finish. Our strict process ensures outstanding quality and performance. All of our radiators come with a 10 year guarantee.

Our cast iron radiators are available in a carefully selected range of durable finishes designed to complement both period and modern interiors. Choose from Gunmetal Grey, Matt Black, Satin Black, Antique Bronze, or Cream White. We also offer a “Base Coat Only” option, allowing you to apply your own topcoat if you prefer a fully bespoke finish.

While cast iron radiators may be harder to manoeuvre than steel or aluminium radiators, they are easy to install by a qualified plumber. The Cast Iron Radiator Centre delivers each radiator fully assembled, tested, and ready for connection, making the process as simple as possible. All of our radiators are fully compatible with modern heating systems.

All of our cast iron radiators are compatible with normal central heating systems, and come complete with ½” British Standard fitting connections. This means you can change as many or as few radiators as you wish.
